Digilent myProto Protoboard Accessory Board
The Digilent myProto (Part Number: 783405-01) is a unique development board that directly connects to the National Instruments myDAQ data acquisition system. This integrated device is aimed at the field of electronics education and analog circuit design in providing a versatile platform for people in the educational and engineering establishments. By routing all instrument signals to a solderless breadboard, you can readily express the full potential of the myDAQ in a workable format. This allows easy construction and testing of circuits using simple jumpers, helping to ease the development of projects in educational laboratories and for professional development.
This accessory board increases the value of the myDAQ by also providing many of the other components which are required for more complete experimentation with electronic circuits. It has user LEDs available onboard to allow visual monitoring of user outputs, a 10-kilohm potentiometer for varying voltage divides and two audio jacks available which provide access to sleeve, ring and tip connections for audio signal processing arrangements. The Digilent myProto Protoboard also allows you to connect with the myDAQ's different channels for analog and I/O access (like Analog Out pins 0 and 1, the analog input channels, and digital I/O lines 0 through 7, etc.). It also has a number of power rails (+15V, -15V, +5V, etc.) which have switches to safely control the on/off of power and an external power connector to provide flexibility in energizing the particular circuit. All the grounds of the various circuits are joined to a common node, greatly simplifying the circuit design and reducing the possibility of grounding errors.
The Digilent myProto board functions by combining access to test and measurement facilities with elementary circuitry to provide a complete workstation for electronics prototyping. It is very suitable for a beginner's course in electronics, validation of various analog and digital circuits and also project-based learning. It is designed in the simplest and most user-compatible method possible so that different people at different levels of expertise in various projects can welcome the ease of interfacing of complicated signals and circuit debugging. This serves to incline persons at all levels of expertise and requirement of need for the capture of data from the project to be workable in the classroom, like at so many industrial sites, especially with respect to automation installation design.
